As of today, June 16, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 100/mt in the Marmara region and remained stable in the Iskenderun and Karabuk regions with minor changes in US dollar basis in these regions. However, the rebar prices in the Izmir region has fallen by TRY 100/mt ($2-3/mt) due to the aggressive pricing policy to generate cash, compared to Thursday, June 12. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 25,400-26,000/mt or $537-550/mt, ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 39.38.
The official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $540-565/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S.’s prices, down by $5/mt on the lower end as compared to June 12, while the workable rebar prices in these regions also vary at $535-560/mt ex-works, also down by $5/mt on the lower end over the same period, for cash payment only.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its official rebar price today at TRY 26,750/mt ($566/mt) ex-works. Sources report a few re-rollers in this region are offering rebar at around TRY 25,700-26,000/mt ($544-550/mt) ex-warehouse for serious buyers.
One Samsun-based mill has closed its rebar sales until Monday, June 23.
Most local buyers are in a wait and see stance ahead of Turkish Central Bank's interest rate decision due Thursday, June 19.
