As of today, May 20, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have decreased by TRY 100-300/mt ($4-9/mt) in the Marmara and Iskenderun regions, while rising by TRY 100-200/mt with minor changes on US dollar basis in the rest of the country, against the backdrop of sluggish demand and the ongoing currency fluctuations, compared to Thursday, May 15. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 25,700-26,200/mt or $551-562/mt, ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 38.85.
The official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $560-565/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S.’s prices, up by $10/mt on the lower end, while the workable rebar prices in these regions vary at $550-560/mt ex-works, stable over the same period, for cash payment only. One Izmir-based mill has completed maintenance works and restarted its production since May 17, though it has not yet released its rebar price, SteelOrbis has heard.
One Iskenderun-based mill issued its official rebar price at TRY 26,250/mt ($563/mt) ex-works earlier today. Sources report the workable rebar price in this region is at around TRY 25,750-26,000/mt ($552-558/mt) ex-works for serious buyers.
One Samsun-based mill has closed its rebar sales until Monday, May 26.
