As of today, May 8, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 100-200/mt ($1-4/mt) in the Iskenderun and Izmir regions against the backdrop of the positive sentiment in the import scrap segment, while remaining stable in the local currency in the Marmara and Karabuk regions, with minor changes on US dollar basis, compared to Monday, May 5. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 25,000-25,500/mt or $539-550/mt, ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 38.64.
The official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $540-560/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S.’s prices, unchanged, while the workable rebar prices in these regions vary at $540-555/mt ex-works, up by $5/mt on the lower end, for cash payment only. One Marmara-based mill has closed its rebar sales until Monday, May 12. In addition, one Izmir-based mill has today started maintenance works, which are expected to last 10 days.
Two Iskenderun-based mills have issued their rebar prices at TRY 26,000/mt ($561/mt) ex-works today. Sources report that the workable rebar price in this region is around TRY 25,500-25,600/mt ($550-552/mt) ex-works amid aggressive pricing.
