As of today, January 13, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have fallen by TRY 100-200/mt ($5-8/mt) in the Iskenderun and Izmir regions against the backdrop of the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment, while remaining stable in the local currency with minor changes on US dollar basis in the rest of the country, all as compared to Thursday, January 9.  Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 23,500-23,800/mt or $551-559/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 35.51.

The official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $555-580/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S’s prices, down by $5/mt on the lower end, while the workable rebar prices in these regions vary at $550-560/mt ex-works, down by $5/mt over the same period, for cash payment only.

One Iskenderun-based mill has issued at its rebar price at TRY 23,700/mt ($556/mt) ex-works today. According to sources, a few re-rollers in this region are offering rebar at TRY 23,400-23,600/mt ($549-554/mt) ex-warehouse.

The general sentiment as regards demand is negative due to the slowdown in the construction sector amid adverse weather conditions.
