As of today, April 21, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have fallen by TRY 200-300/mt ($5-8/mt) amid sluggish demand and weaker import scrap prices, compared to Thursday, April 17. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 24,500-25,300/mt or $534-552/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 38.20.
The official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $540-565/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S.’s prices, down by $30/mt on the higher end, while the workable rebar prices in these regions vary at $535-560/mt ex-works, down by $5/mt on the lower end over the same period, for cash payment only.
Two Iskenderun-based mill have issued their rebar prices at TRY 25,200-25,250/mt ($550-551/mt) ex-works today. Sources report the workable rebar price in this region is close to TRY 24,500/mt ($534/mt) ex-works due to the aggressive pricing policy.
One Samsun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 25,500/mt ($556/mt) ex-works today.
Most buyers are in a wait and see stance due to the downward price trend in the import scrap segment.
