As of today, April 14, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have decreased by TRY 100-200/mt ($4-7/mt) amid sluggish demand and weaker import scrap prices, compared to Thursday, April 10. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 25,100-25,800/mt or $550-565/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 38.04.

The official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $560-595/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S.’s prices, down by $5/mt on the lower end, while the workable rebar prices in these regions vary at $550-575/mt, down by $10/mt over the same period, for cash payment only. According to sources, around 10,000 mt of rebar were traded at around $550/mt ex-works in the Izmir region last week.

Two Izmir-based mills have set their rebar conversion costs at TRY 750/mt ($16/mt) and TRY 1,000/mt ($22/mt) respectively for 10 mm and 8 mm sizes today.

Two mills in the Iskenderun region have issued their rebar prices at TRY 25,800-26,400/mt ($565-580/mt) ex-works, down by TRY 200/mt($6/mt) on the lower end today. Sources report the workable rebar price in this region is close to TRY 25,400/mt ($556/mt) ex-works, also down by $100/mt ($4/mt), for serious buyers. In addition, a few re-rollers in the same region have already started their maintenance works, while a few re-rollers are even testing TRY 25,200/mt ($552/mt) ex-warehouse with their aggressive pricing policies.

One Samsun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 26,200/mt ($574/mt) ex-works today.

The general sentiment on the demand side is negative and most local buyers are refraining from new purchases ahead of Turkish Central Bank's interest rate decision due Thursday, April 17.

As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
