As of today, February 23, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market fallen by TRY 100-200/mt ($2-5/mt) in the Marmara and Izmir regions, while remaining stable on Turkish lira basis with only minor changes on US dollar basis in the rest of the country, as compared to February 19, against the backdrop of the ongoing depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar and sluggish demand. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now in the range of TRY 28,400-28,900/mt ($540-549/mt) ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 43.83.

Official rebar offers for cash payments in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş' prices, have settled at $545-560/mt ex-works, down by $5/mt compared to February 19, while acceptable prices have also indicated a decrease of $5/mt, to $540-555/mt ex-works, for cash payment, over the same period.

One Iskenderun-based mill has set its official rebar price today at TRY 29,000/mt ($551/mt), indicating an increase of TRY 400/mt ($6/mt) compared to February 19 due to the limited supply in the region. Sources report that several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are still offering rebar today to serious buyers at TRY 28,600-28,700/mt ($544-546/mt) ex-warehouse, stable in the local currency with minor changes on US dollar basis as compared to February 19.

One Samsun-based mill has extended the closure of its rebar sales for another week.
