Turkish domestic rebar spot prices decline as week ends

Today, August 19, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have fallen by TRY 200/mt ($9-10/mt) amid the depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar and the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 13,400-13,700/mt or $627-641/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.

Most Marmara and Izmir based mills are offering official rebar prices at $650-670/mt ex-works today. Sources report additional $10-20/mt discounts are on the table for serious buyers. Some local traders are pessimistic and believe that rebar prices may decrease further next week. As a result, they are applying aggressive pricing policies to generate sales.

All prices are ex-warehouse and on actual weight basis. Prices on Turkish lira basis include 18 percent VAT, while prices on US dollar basis exclude VAT.
