As of today, April 10, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have decreased by TRY 100-300/mt ($4-11/mt) against the backdrop of sluggish demand and the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment, compared to Monday, April 7. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 25,300-25,900/mt or $556-569/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 37.92.
The official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $565-595/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S.’s prices, down by $5/mt on the lower end, while the workable rebar prices in these regions vary at $560-585/mt, down by $5/mt over the same period, for cash payment only. Sources report even slightly below $560/mt ex-works is available in the Izmir region due to the aggressive pricing policy there.
Two mills in the Iskenderun region have issued their rebar prices at TRY 26,000-26,400/mt ($571-580/mt) ex-works today. Sources report the workable rebar price in this region is close to TRY 25,500/mt ($560/mt) ex-works for serious buyers.
The general sentiment on the demand side is negative so far.
