As of today, May 17, local Turkish merchant bar prices have fallen sharply amid weaker import scrap and billet prices, sluggish demand and ongoing currency fluctuations. Most buyers are taking their time before concluding new purchases as they are seeking to monitor raw material prices.
Turkish merchant bar re-rollers are mostly offering for June-early July delivery and only limited tonnages are available from stocks.An Izmir-based mill has cut its price for HEA/HEB (100-200 mm, standard) by $25/mt to $1,275/mt ex-works amid weaker scrap prices over the same period.
