Today, April 15, Turkish integrated mill Kardemir has hiked its wire rod prices by $28/mt as compared to its prices issued on Wednesday, March 25, amid higher production costs, in particular increased energy prices and import scrap prices.
Accordingly, Kardemir’s price for 5.5 mm SAE 1008-1010 grade wire rod stands at $635/mt ex-works, while its 6-27 mm wire rod of the same steel grade is offered at $620/mt ex-works. In addition, 28-56 mm wire rod of the same steel grade is offered at $640/mt ex-works. No sales of wire rod tonnages have been heard by the time of publication, while the mill’s wire rod sales remain open.
"Kardemir's mesh grade price is on the higher end of the general range of workable wire rod prices at $600-620/mt ex-works," one source commented.
The wire rod prices exclude 20 percent VAT.
