Today, December 9, Turkish integrated mill Kardemir has cut its dollar-based wire rod prices by $40/mt compared to its previous announcement on Tuesday, November 2, amid currency fluctuations and weaker scrap prices. Accordingly, Kardemir’s price for 5.5 mm SAE 1008-1010 grade wire rod is currently at $830/mt ex-works, while its 6-27 mm wire rod of the same steel grade is offered at $805/mt ex-works. In addition, 28-56 mm wire rod of the same steel grade is offered at $830/mt ex-works. Kardemir has recently split its size range from 6-56 mm into 6-27 mm and 27-56 mm sizes. According to sources, around 10,000 mt of wire rod has been traded for now.
