Turkey’s Kardemir closes its wire rod sales

Today, May 5, Turkish integrated mill Kardemir opened its wire rod sales for the first time in around a month, with its wire rod prices appearing competitive with advantageous payment terms considering the general price range in Turkey which was at $730-765/mt ex-works yesterday. The producer closed its wire rod sales later on the same day.

Kardemir’s new prices for 5.5 mm SAE 1008-1010 grade wire rod were announced at TRY 6,235/mt ($748/mt) ex-works, while its 6-56 mm wire rod of the same steel grade was being offered at TRY 6,150/mt ($737/mt) ex-works, up by TRY 560/mt ($52-53/mt) compared to its previous price list dated Wednesday, April 7. According to sources, the producer has succeeded in selling around 50,000 mt, though the final tonnage has not been confirmed yet.
