Today, October 14, Turkish integrated mill Kardemir has closed its lira-based wire rod sales to avoid the risk of currency fluctuations. Only US dollar payment is acceptable for now. Accordingly, Kardemir’s price for 5.5 mm SAE 1008-1010 grade wire rod is currently available at $835/mt ex-works, while its 6-56 mm wire rod of the same steel grade is offered at $810/mt ex-works. The mill’s wire rod sale prices have remained unchanged today.
“A sale of 5,000 mt of wire rod was confirmed by the time the supplier opened its wire rod sales on Thurday,October 7, though the final tonnage is not available after the recent adjustment,” one source mentioned. “They are offering the material for January delivery, while a few wire rod buyers are refraining from the new purchases given the extended delivery period,” another source added.
Wire rod prices exclude 18 percent VAT.
