Today, April 6, Turkish steelmaker Icdas A.S. has issued its official rebar price at TRY 30,420/mt ($620/mt) ex-works, while also issuing its wire rod price at TRY 31,155/mt ($635/mt) ex-works, with increases of around TRY 580/mt ($10/mt) compared to March 31. Both prices include 10 percent VAT. The main reasons are costlier electricity and natural gas as well as higher import scrap prices. However, most buyers are exerting pressure for additional discounts as most of them have already restocked material. Sources report additional discounts are only available to serious buyers and for cash payment.
The workable rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions currently vary at $605-620/mt ex-works.
