Sources inform SteelOrbis that Tokyo Steel has increased the price on rebar due to higher production costs including increases in raw material prices, electricity prices at winter level surcharges, and transportation costs. List prices are now at JPY 69,000/mt ($621/mt) ex-mill for February shipments.

Prices reportedly remained stable through the summer of 2017 into August at approximately JPY 56,000/mt ($508/mt) ex-mill. Prices increased in September and again in October, remained stagnant into November, and, thereafter, rebar steel prices began their upward ascent again for three consecutive months. Since August, Tokyo Steel rebar prices have increased by $113/mt.
