Rebar prices decrease further in Italy

According to market sources, in the Italian domestic market local producers' prices for 12-28 mm rebar have decreased by at least another €10/mt ($11/mt) compared to the first week of July, to €395/mt ($431/mt) ex-works and even slightly lower. The domestic rebar market has continued to be very quiet in terms of demand, and the downtrend of prices has been exacerbated by the price decreases seen in the local scrap market.

As for the export market, activity is also on the quiet side in Algeria (the main destination for Italian rebar exports) because of Ramadan and due to very competitive offers from China. Italian producers are trying to keep their offers at least at the level of €400/mt ($436/mt) FOB.
