As of today, August 11, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have remained stable in the local currency with a decrease of only $1/mt on US dollar basis compared to August 7, against the backdrop of the ongoing exchange rate fluctuations. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now at TRY 26,400-27,100 TL/mt ($540-555/mt) ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 40.71.
Official offers for cash payments for rebar in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including prices from İçdaş , have settled at $545-570/mt ex-works, versus $550-65/mt ex-works a week earlier, while acceptable prices have also fallen, by $5/mt on the lower end to $540-55/mt ex-works over the same period.
Meanwhile, a producer in Iskenderun today issued its official rebar price at TRY 27,450/mt ($562/m) ex-works. According to sources, several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar to serious buyers today at around TRY 26,700-27,000/mt ($547-553/mt) ex-warehouse, indicating a decrease of TRY 100-300/mt ($3-7/mt) week on week.
One Samsun-based mill has extended the closure of its rebar sales until Monday, August 18.
