As of today, August 18, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have remained stable in the local currency ,with a decrease of $2-3/mt on US dollar basis, compared to August 11, amid the ongoing exchange rate fluctuations. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now at TRY 26,400-27,100 TL/mt ($538-552/mt) ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 40.88.
Official rebar offers for cash payments in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including prices from İçdaş , have settled at $540-560/mt ex-works, versus $545-570/mt ex-works last week, while acceptable prices have also fallen, by $5/mt to $535-50/mt ex-works over the same period.
Meanwhile, a producer in Iskenderun today issued its official rebar price at TRY 27,450/mt ($560/m) ex-works, down by $2/mt over the past week. According to sources, several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar to serious buyers today at around TRY 26,850-27,000/mt ($547-550/mt) ex-warehouse, versus 26,700-27,000/mt ($547-553/mt) ex-warehouse last week.
One Samsun-based mill has extended the closure of its rebar sales until Monday, August 25.
