As of today, October 30, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have remained unchanged in the local currency, while there have been only minor changes on US dollar basis, as compared to October 27. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now in the range of TRY 27,200-28,000/mt ($540-556/m) ex-warehouse, depending on the region and at the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 41.98. According to sources, most local traders are applying aggressive pricing strategy and giving additional discounts in order to generate sales.
Official rebar offers for cash payments in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş's prices, have fallen by $5/mt on the higher end compared to October 27, to $545-555/mt ex-works, while acceptable prices are available at $540-$550/mt ex-works, also down by $5/mt on the higher end over the same period. One Marmara-based mill has closed its rebar sales until Monday, November 3.
Sources say several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar to serious buyers today at TRY 27,500-27,600/mt ($546-548/mt) ex-warehouse, down by TRY 100/mt ($3/mt) over the same period.
