As of today, August 21, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have fallen by TRY 100/mt ($2-3/mt) , compared to August 18, against the backdrop of the ongoing exchange rate fluctuations and sluggish demand. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now at TRY 26,300-27,000 TL/mt ($535-550/mt) ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 40.93.
Official rebar offers for cash payments in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including prices from İçdaş , have settled at $540-560/mt ex-works, stable from August 18, while acceptable prices have also remained unchanged, at $535-50/mt ex-works, over the same period. According to sources small tonnage of rebar, up to 1,000 mt has been traded at around $550/mt ex-works in the Marmara region this week.
Meanwhile, a producer in Iskenderun today issued its official rebar price at TRY 26,850/mt ($547/m) ex-works today. According to sources, several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar to serious buyers today at around TRY 26,600-26,900/mt ($542-548/mt) ex-warehouse, versus TRY 26,850-27,000/mt ($547-550/mt) ex-warehouse at the beginning of this week.
