As of today, September 8, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have risen by TRY 100-200/mt ($1-3/mt), compared to September 4, amid the ongoing currency fluctuations. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now at TRY 26,300-27,200/mt ($531-549/mt) ex-warehouse, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 41.27.
Official cash offers for rebar in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including prices from İçdaş, have remained stable at $535-555/mt ex-works, while acceptable prices have also remained stable, at $530-550/mt ex-works.
Meanwhile, today two producers in Iskenderun announced official rebar prices at TRY 27,100-27,350/mt ($547-552/mt) ex-works. Sources say several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar to serious buyers today at TRY 26,700-26,900/mt ($539-543/mt) ex-warehouse, up by TRY 300/mt ($5/mt) over the same period.
One Samsun-based mill has extended the closure of its rebar sales until Monday, September 15.
Most buyers are in wait-and-see mode until the Turkish Central Bank's interest rate decision due on Thursday, September 11.
