As of today, September 18, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have remained stable both in the local currency and on US dollar basis against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations, compared to September 15. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now at TRY 26,300-27,000/mt ($531-545/mt) ex-warehouse, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 41.30.
Official cash offers for rebar in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including prices from İçdaş, have remained stable at $535-555/mt ex-works, while acceptable prices are at $530-545/mt ex-works, also unchanged over the same period.
Meanwhile, today one producer in Iskenderun announced its official rebar price at TRY 27,500/mt ($555/mt) ex-works. Sources say several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are still offering rebar to serious buyers today at TRY 26,700-26,900/mt ($539-543/mt) ex-warehouse, down by TRY 100/mt ($2/mt) over the same period.
Most buyers are maintaining a wait-and-see stance and asking for further discounts due to the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment.
