As of today, September 11, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have remained stable both in the local currency and US dollar basis, except Marmara region where rebar spot prices have fallen by TRY 200/mt ($4/mt) due to the sluggish demand, compared to September 8, against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now at TRY 26,300-27,000/mt ($531-545/mt) ex-warehouse, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 41.31.
Official cash offers for rebar in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including prices from İçdaş, have remained unchanged at $535-555/mt ex-works, while acceptable prices have fallen by $5/mt on the higher end to $530-545/mt ex-works.
Meanwhile, today one producer in Iskenderun announced official rebar price at TRY 27,350/mt ($552/mt) ex-works. Sources say several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar to serious buyers today at TRY 26,800-27,000/mt ($541-545/mt) ex-warehouse, up by only TRY 100/mt ($2/mt) over the same period.
Turkish Central Bank has reduced the interest rate from 43 percent to 40.5 percent today.
