As of today, September 22, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have risen by TRY 100/mt, while remaining stable in the rest of the country, with all rebar spot prices only indicating minor changes on US dollar basis amid the ongoing currency fluctuations, compared to September 18. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now at TRY 26,300-27,100/mt ($531-546/mt) ex-warehouse, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 41.30.
Official cash offers for rebar in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including prices from İçdaş, have remained stable at $535-555/mt ex-works, while acceptable prices are at $530-545/mt ex-works, also stable over the same period.
Meanwhile, today one producer in Iskenderun has announced its official rebar price at TRY 27,500/mt ($554/mt) ex-works. Sources say several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are still offering rebar to serious buyers today at TRY 26,500-26,900/mt ($534-542/mt) ex-warehouse, down by TRY 200/mt ($5/mt) on the lower end over the same period.
The general sentiment on the demand side is still negative.
