Rebar import price declines in Brazil

The latest Brazilian import rebar offer from China was priced at $535/mt, against $559/mt one month ago, CFR conditions in a port in the south or southeast coast of Brazil, referring to the QC/HRB400 grade.

In December, no rebar imports were registered by Brazilian customs authorities.

In the domestic market, distributors in the Rio de Janeiro area are selling rebar in very small volumes at BRL 5,729/mt ($1,370/mt), against BRL 4,818/mt one month ago, full taxes and delivered to customer. Such price, with reference to the CA-50 grade and 10mm diameter, can receive substantial discounts in case of large volumes or direct sales by steel producers.

Sources tell SteelOrbis that steel producers have confirmed a price increase for long products in the range of 5 percent, valid from January 20, although market prices have not reflected the increase as of yet.
