Brazil exported 49,300 mt of rebar in May, 10.5 percent more than in April, at $465/mt, FOB conditions, the same average price from April, according to the country’s ministry of industry, foreign trade and services, MDIC.

Gerdau was the top exporter, with 44,200 mt at $459/mt, while the Votorantim Group exported 4,400 mt at $496/mt, both FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in March. The main destinations were South American countries (37,500 mt), the US (9,300 mt) and the Caribbean (2,400 mt).

A local exporter told SteelOrbis that the current Brazilian export rebar price has remained stable this week at $486/mt, FOB conditions, having the CA50 10mm thickness product as reference.
