Demand has remained strong and prices have increased further in the Poland rebar market over the past two weeks. Low rebar stocks in the country and higher scrap prices have supported a rebar price rise from PLN 400-450/mt (€90-101/mt) to PLN 3,700-3,800/mt (€828-851/mt) ex-works.
"The combination of the strong demand and low stocks encourages traders to buy. Allso, no one expects a decline either in demand or in prices," a trader told SteelOrbis.
The market is waiting for further upward movement, taking into account strong raw material prices, and they believe that, following a long postponement due to Covid-19, end-users will want to finish their projects before the summer holiday period. In this situation, no decline in demand is expected.
On the import side, there are not so many options because suppliers prefer to concentrate on satisfying demand in their own domestic markets. During the past two weeks, Moldovian offers have been heard in the market as €750-770/mt CPT for July deliveries.
Prices exclude 23 percent VAT.
