Nucor Steel announced to US customers on June 11 that pricing for its rebar, merchant bar and structural products will be up in July.
Effective with shipments as of July 1, 2008, the company's raw materials surcharge (RMS) applicable to rebar, merchant bar and structural products will be $378 /nt ($416.68 /mt or $18.90 cwt.), representing a decrease of $25 /nt ($27.56 /mt or $1.25 cwt.) compared to the June RMS.
Also effective as of July 1, 2008, the company will increase base prices for the products in question by $60/nt ($66.14 /mt or $3.00 cwt.), resulting in a total increase of $35 /nt ($38.58 /mt or $1.75 cwt.) in transaction prices.
The company also announced an additional 20 footer rebar price increase by $20 /nt ($22.05 /mt or $1.00/cwt) for sizes 10 mm (#3) - 19 mm (#6). All orders on the books will be price protected if shipped before July 14, 2008.
