Several Nucor Bar Mill Group locations, as well Nucor-Yamato, have informed customers of their December pricing move for rebar, merchant bar and structural products, including wide flange beams (WFB).
Nucor's Jackson, Mississippi; Jewett, Texas; Auburn, New York; and Birmingham, Alabama; and Nucor-Yamato mills all told customers late Tuesday or early Wednesday that they will keep net prices for rebar, merchant bar and structural products, and in the case of Nucor-Yamato, WFB, unchanged in December from November, by increasing base prices by the same amount that the Raw Materials Surcharge (RMS) will decrease in December.
Effective with shipments December 1, 2009, the RMS applicable to these products will be $73/nt ($3.65 cwt. or $80/mt). This represents a decrease of $25/nt ($1.25 cwt. or $28/mt) when compared to Nucor's October 15, 2009 surcharge. In addition, these mills will increase base prices for rebar, merchant bar and structural products, including WFB, by $25/nt, with the net effect of the move being that transaction pricing for these products will remain unchanged in December.
