Nucor announced late Wednesday that effective with shipments as of October 11, 2012, the Raw Materials Surcharge (RMS) applicable to merchant bar and structural products will be $173/nt ($8.65 cwt. or $191/mt), representing a $47/nt ($2.35 cwt. or $52/mt) decrease from the September 14, 2012 surcharge.
Additionally, Nucor will increase the base price for merchant bar and structural products by $7/nt ($0.35 cwt. or $8/mt). The net effect of this move is that transaction prices for merchant bar and structural products will decrease by $40/nt ($2.00 cwt. or $44/mt).
