Local Turkish wire rod prices trend up

Turkish domestic wire rod prices have increased by $20-55/mt to $950-1,000/mt ex-works as the week ends, and are mostly for April-May delivery. The main reasons for such a sharp price hike are higher import scrap and billet prices and the ongoing currency fluctuations.

One Iskenderun-based mill has increased its official wire rod price by $40/mt to $1,000/mt ex-works for May delivery. Another mill in the region has closed its wire rod sales until the beginning of next week. Most buyers are monitoring the raw material segment before restocking.
