As of today, March 31, official wire rod prices in Turkey have increased by $5-10/mt depending on the region compared to March 25, amid higher production costs, in particular higher import scrap and energy prices. Sources report electricity and natural gas prices may increase significantly on April 1 due to war-related risks. However, no official increase has been announced by the time of publication. According to sources, one Iskenderun-based mill is rumored to be testing a wire rod price of $605/mt ex-works, up by $5/mt over the same period, depending on the tonnage and payment terms.
According to sources, workable wire rod prices in Turkey have settled at $605-620/mt ex-works, also up by $10/mt over the same period.
Most buyers are refraining from large-volume purchases and are just purchasing in line with their daily needs.
