As of today, March 10, official wire rod prices in Turkey have increased by $5/mt depending on the region as compared to March 4, amid higher production costs, in particular the positive sentiments in the import scrap and billet segments. According to sources, one Iskenderun-based mill is rumored to be testing a wire rod price of $570/mt ex-works, up by $5/mt over the same period, depending on the tonnage and payment terms.
According to sources, workable wire rod prices in Turkey have settled at $565-580/mt ex-works, also up by $5/mt over the same period.
The general sentiment on the demand side is negative and most buyers are in wait-and-see mode ahead of the Turkish Central Bank's interest rate decision due on Thursday, March 12.
