Today, September 1, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have fallen by another TRY 20-50/mt in the local currency, with just minor changes on US dollar basis. The main reasons are currency fluctuations and sluggish demand against the backdrop of silence in the import scrap segment. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 6,440-6,550/mt or $658-669/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Most mills in the Izmir and Marmara regions are currently voicing their official rebar prices at $655-680/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S. Sources report that one Marmara-based mill opened its offer price at $665/mt ex-works today, though information on tonnages sold is available for now.
“In the Karabuk region, some local traders have cut their rebar prices to bring them in line with the general rebar price range in the country amid the weak current demand,” one source commented.
