Today, July 18, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have fallen by TRY 50/mt ($4-5/mt) in the Izmir and Karabuk regions, while remaining stable in the local currency in the rest of the country with minor changes on US dollar basis compared to Wednesday, July 13. The main reasons are the rapid currency fluctuations and relatively slow trading activity after the holiday period. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 14,500-14,700/mt or $702-711/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Icdas has kept its official rebar price at $720/mt ex-works today. Most mills in the Izmir and Marmara regions are currently offering rebar at $720-725/mt ex-works, while additional discounts are applicable for serious buyers.
Most local traders are taking their time before restocking and are monitoring the import scrap price trend and demand to be on the safe side.
