Turkish merchant bar producers have kept their domestic prices stable in the local currency over the past week, while their prices have declined by $1-2/mt on US dollar basis against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations. One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its equal angle price at TRY 25,200/mt ($604/mt) ex-works today, October 7.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for deliveries in November or from stocks, depending on the size.
Although merchant bar re-rollers are aiming to increase their local prices due to higher import scrap and billet prices, most local buyers are resisting higher prices and are not providing support in terms of demand. As a result, merchant bar prices expected to be revised in the short term.
