In the past two weeks, local Turkish merchant bar prices have increased by TRY 400-500/mt in the local currency, while they have risen by $56-68/mt on US dollar basis, due to the rapid increase in import scrap and billet prices to which currency fluctuations have contributed.
A few re-rollers are today offering HEA/HEB (100-200 mm, standard) around at $725-730/mt ex-works, except for Kardemir, SteelOrbis has learned.
Merchant bar re-rollers are mainly offering for late March and early April deliveries, with limited stock availability from a few re-rollers. “Extended delivery terms are a major restriction for local buyers due to the unclear financial situation. However, Turkish merchant bar re-rollers have mainly completed their export bookings for March shipment, and this also supports stronger local prices” one source is mentioned.
