The base prices of long steel products in the Italian domestic market have been varying between stability and decline over the past couple of weeks.

According to the base reference prices for long products released on July 21 by the price commission of the Brescia Chamber of Commerce, merchant bar and beam prices have remained unchanged from two weeks previous. 10-59 mm merchant bar sizes are still in a range of €600-620/mt, while 60-150 mm sizes stand at €630-650/mt. As regards beams, 80-220 mm IPN, 80-220 mm IPE and 100-180 mm HE are in a range of €700-720/mt, while 80-120 mm UPN are at €630-650/mt.

A different story is seen, however, as regards other long products which have taken a step backward. Base prices of rebar in Italy have dropped €30/mt over the two weeks in question, declining to a price range of €580-590/mt. Electrowelded mesh has also lost €30/mt, now standing at €600-620/mt. Base prices for cold drawn bar, meanwhile, fell by €20/mt to a range of €700-730/mt.

Base reference prices for wire rod in Italy also varied between stability and decrease; mesh quality wire rod registered a drop of €10/mt to a level of €800-810/mt; drawing quality wire rod, however, did not see any change at €830-850/mt.
