Turkish merchant bar export prices have fallen sharply amid the negative sentiment in the import scrap and billet segments, in particular caused by aggressive Iranian billet prices. Currently, ex-Turkey merchant bar prices have settled at $680-700/mt FOB versus $720-740/mt FOB for Late July-August shipments.

Most international buyers are taking their time regarding new purchases. Latin America’s demand is livelier than demand from the Middle East and Africa these days, SteelOrbis has heard. Most European buyers are also cautious as regards restocking material as the EU quota for Turkey, which begins July 1, is expected to be exhausted quickly.

Turkish merchant bar export prices are currently at the following levels:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Angle

680-700

IPN-UPN

690-710

Flat bar

710-730

IPE

All prices are on FOB basis and for Late July-August shipment.
