Turkish merchant bar export prices have decreased on average by $15/mt week on week to $670-700/mt FOB, mainly for September shipment, with a limited tonnage available for late August shipment, against the  backdrop of the negative mood in the import scrap segment and sluggish demand.

European buyers are on their summer break, while most international buyers are monitoring the price trend and taking their time before deciding to conclude new purchases.

A few merchant bar re-rollers are giving discounts in order to generate sales in the sluggish international demand environment, while a few merchant bar re-rollers are attempting to keep their prices firm amid the scrap suppliers’ firm stance on their prices.

Turkish merchant bar export prices are currently at the following levels:

670-700

IPN-UPN
