Domestic rebar prices in Turkey move up

The Turkish lira has mostly depreciated against the US dollar this week. As a result, Turkish producer Icdas has increased its domestic 12-32 mm rebar prices in Turkey's Marmara region to TRY 1,966/mt ($560/mt) + VAT ex-works and in Biga, Canakkale in northwestern Turkey to TRY 1,940/mt ($553/mt) + VAT ex-works. The mill’s list prices have moved up by TRY 25/mt + VAT as compared to its previous price list issued on September 14, while due to currency fluctuations prices have decreased by $1/mt on US dollar basis.

On the other hand, having moved sideways since September 18, domestic rebar prices in Turkey have increased by TRY 10-30/mt today, September 21, despite the declining trend of the import scrap and domestic billet quotations in Turkey, and despite the weakness of domestic finished steel demand which has failed to improve since the Feast of Sacrifice holiday (Aug. 31-Sept. 4).

As of today, September 21, traders’ rebar offers in the Turkish domestic market are as follows:
