Diverse trends in Turkish domestic rebar spot market

Today, August 27, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have shown diverse trends, with some increasing by TRY10-30/mt, while in Iskenderun prices have decreased by TRY 50/mt further today. Prices increases in the local currency resulted in sideways movement or decreases of up to $2/mt, while there were decreases of $8-9/mt in the dollar equivalents of the reduced local-currency prices in Iskenderun. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 6,500-6,630/mt or $656-669/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.

Today, Icdas A.S. has followed the downtrend and reduced its rebar price by $5/mt to $675/mt ex-works. Most mills in the Marmara region have shared their official rebar prices at $670-680/mt ex-works. Although a steelmaker in Izmir has offered $675/mt ex-works as its list price for rebar, another Izmir-based mills has reduced its list price to $655/mt ex-works and the latter is expected to give $5/mt discounts in actual sales. According to market sources, the second Izmir-based mill has achieved in selling 50,000 mt in the last two days.

All prices are ex-warehouse and on actual weight basis. Prices on Turkish lira basis include 18 percent VAT, while prices on US dollar basis exclude VAT.
