Deterioration in Italian domestic rebar market

The situation in the Italian domestic rebar market has worsened. Domestic producers' local prices, which last week were at €440/mt ex-works, have weakened further to €430-440/mt ($585-598/mt) ex-works, i.e., regressing to the very low levels seen at the end of March.

Activity in the local Italian rebar market is very quiet with orders few and far between, and there are no signs of an improvement in the short term. Local sources believe that any price increase will not depend on demand, but will merely be a reaction following the very low levels to which prices have fallen.

€1 = $1.360
