Demand still weak in local Egyptian rebar market

Demand in the local Egyptian rebar market is observed to have remained at low levels over the past week. Although Egyptian rebar producers’ costs rose last week following the increases recorded in import scrap and billet quotations, they have kept their domestic offers stable week on week due to the weakness of demand. Accordingly, domestic rebar prices in Egypt are still at EGP 11,600-11,900/mt ($648-665/mt) ex-works.
