Domestic rebar prices in Turkey have moved down, while market sources state that demand in the local Turkish rebar market is still weak and that the downtrend of import scrap quotations observed over the past two weeks has also been reflected in the prices of billet, which is used in rebar production. On the other hand, it is observed that the appreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar has also played a role in today’s downward revision. Additionally, SteelOrbis has been informed that oversupply is an issue for most traders in the local Turkish rebar market.
Today, June 20, Turkish mill Izmir Demir Celik has reduced its 12-32 mm rebar prices by TRY 59/mt to TRY 2,695/mt ($469,5/mt) ex-works, while Icdas has decreased its 12-32 mm rebar prices by TRY 50/mt to TRY 2,700/mt ($470/mt) ex-works, both excluding VAT.
