Chinese domestic steel section prices have moved downward with some fluctuations during the past week.
As for billet, prices of the semi-finished steel product in the Chinese domestic market have fluctuated with downticks trend during the past week. In Tangshan, the current price of Q235 150 x 150 mm square billet is at RMB 3,470/mt ($482/mt), the price of 165 x 225 mm rectangular billet stands at RMB 3,490/mt ($484/mt), while the price of 20MnSi billet is at around RMB 3,570/mt ($495/mt). The prices are all ex-mill, including 13 percent VAT.
In the Chinese domestic steel section market, overall trading activity has been weak amid the holidays and off season. Upstream billet prices have indicated a downward trend as well as other steel products which mainly lead steel section prices down. Supply remained at normal levels and market inventory increased. As for the week ahead, considering that the hot weather may continue influencing demand and upstream segment may remain weak, it is believed that steel section prices may continue to fluctuate with some downward trend.
