Chinese domestic steel section prices have continued their slightly soft trend during the past week.
As for billet, prices of the semi-finished steel product in the Chinese domestic market have showed a fluctuation with reduce trend during the past week. In Tangshan, the current price of Q235 150 mm x 150 mm square billet is at RMB 3,360/mt ($479/mt), the price of 165 x 225 mm rectangular billet stands at RMB 3,380/mt ($482/mt), while the price of 20MnSi billet is at around RMB 3,460/mt ($493/mt). The prices are all ex-mill, including 13 percent VAT.
Chinese steel section prices have continued to move down by a small margins during the past week. Overall trading activity has been weak. Upstream billet prices first increased and then declined during the week. Since finished steel prices were following soft trends in the spot and futures markets, steel section traders have mostly chosen to reduce their prices again. As for the week ahead, it is believed that steel section prices may decline again amid the ongoing weakness of demand.
