As the Turkish lira-US dollar exchange rate remains volatile, buyers are finding it difficult to gain a clearer picture of the likely future trend of the local Turkish rebar market, and so they are maintaining their wait-and-see stance. Market sources state that the rises recorded in import scrap and domestic billet quotations have not been reflected in spot rebar prices yet. As a result, domestic rebar prices are fluctuating in line with the exchange rate. Meanwhile, domestic rebar prices in Turkey have decreased by TRY 25-42/mt since SteelOrbis’ report published on October 25.
