Despite that the billet trade remains challenging in Turkey, some of the buyers have decided to restock in the domestic market and, moreover, some of them have appeared to be ready to pay a higher price compared to the past week.

An Iskenderun region-based steel producer traded 15,000 mt of billet at the very end of the past week at $630/mt ex-works base, SteelOrbis has learned. Previously the prices in the region have been closer to $620-625/mt ex-works.

In addition, local Kardemir has managed to close its billet sales today at 49,600 mt. Its billet price was at $620/mt ex-works for S235JR grade, while its S420-B420 grade billet was available at $625/mt ex-works.

In the Marmara region, the domestic billet offers are being reported at $625/mt delivered to the mill with no fresh bookings heard just yet.
